10.1 & 10.2

10.1 Lower-level thinking (Knowledge, understand)
List some of the factors that aid in developing self-efficacy.

10.2 Higher-level thinking (Create, apply)
Create a list of helpful strategies to help promote students' development of self-regulation. These can be intended for your licensure area or for any grade level in general.

  1. Things that aid in developing self-efficacy:

    Teach basic knowledge and skills to mastery.
    Assure students that they can be successful at challenging tasks, and point out that others like them have been successful in the pats.
    Have students see peers with similar ability accomplish challenging tasks.
    Help students track their progress on challenging tasks. (This was lower level because I copied the answers from the book, at the knowledge level).

    Higher level thinking (create, apply)
    Have students monitor their own behavior using a graph of chart.
    Have students reflect on their behavior or learning both verbally, and using "ticket out the door" type writing exercises.
    Do cognitive modeling.
    Start with much scaffolding and then reduce this scaffolding, allowing students to have a much greater part in regulating their own learning and behavior.

    I think that this is more on the understand level, as many of these strategies are suggested in the book.
