10.1 and 10.2

10.1) Define peer mediation and identify the steps and uses that are associated with it.

10.2) As a teacher how can you use reciprocal causation to your advantage with students in your classroom?

  1. Peer mediation is where students help one another solve interpersonal problems. First, you must define the conflict, then explain their own perspective and needs, explain the other persons perspectives and needs, identify at least three possible solutions to the conflict, and finally you must reach an agreement that addresses the needs of both parties.

    As a teacher, whenever possible, I would incorporate students' personal experiences and interests into my activities and lessons. By doing this, the students are able to make a meaningful connection to the material and may be able to see how it impacts their own lives more clearly. Through praise, verbal feedback and facial expressions I can acknowledge to my students that tI am pleased with their efforts and achievements. Hopefully, this will impact their self efficacy in a positive way to help them achieve academic success.
