7.1 & 7.2

7.1: The chapter talked about different things that affected student's knowledge bases. Briefly summarize concepts, schemas, scripts, theories and worldviews.

7.2: Using what you learned in the reading, what are some ways you would incorporate authentic activities into your lessons? How would these activities place classroom learning into real-world contexts?

Concepts are ways to group similar objects or events mentally. Schemas are an organized set of facts about a concept, idea, or object. Scripts are schemas that are used to make a prediction. Theories are a belief system or understanding about something. A worldview is a belief or assumption about reality that influences one’s general understanding.

I would love to incorporate an authentic writing activity into a kindergarten class. When talking about jobs and how a community is made up of people of all different professions, I would help the class form a letter and ask local professionals to come to our class and explain what they do for a living.

    Kendall,

I enjoyed answering your questions. Your first question was a good example of a lower-order thinking questions that helped me review information that I had learned from the chapter. The second question met the requirement of a higher-order thinking question that allowed me to create an activity based off of what I had read.
